the Scott family of Chewton Mendip and Ditcheat, Somerset

This family kept me in the shade for a very long time. Only when findmypast and familysearch and freereg allowed me to compare all the baptisms at Chewton Mendip with all the burials at Ditcheat, did I realise these Scotts were all one big family. Our former patriarch, twice ancestorly mine, James, has now to play second fiddle to his own father Cornelius who survived him gaining the age of 97. But enjoy the sutlers of the Civil War, the priest in Tokyo, a quiet Abingdon bookshop and the unexpected transportation among these pages.
