• Occupation: Most likely: Ann Welsh dies Jan-Mar 1861 near Broadfield Down, but she still appears in 6 April census. It's possible if forms were completed early. Ann was a bystander at the marriage in 1840 of her younger sister Jane to Richard Welch. She would return to her kind aunt and uncle Whittock in Ditcheat who'd given them a home and work to do. She's still there in 1841 aged thirty: on the shelf. At 37 Jane has now died. Ann goes to South Petherton to help another sister with the birth of a son, and now she decides to marry Richard Welch and look after his child. To our surprise we find Ann next has two daughters of her own, born on land at Broadfield Down (modern Bristol Airport). Of the three Welch girls, it is the youngest, born when Ann was 43, who could take this family into the next generation. Witnessed marriage in 1829 of cousin Anna Maria Symes to Benjamin Crocker
Ann married Richard WELCH, son of Richard WELCH and Mary GEAR, in 1847 in South Petherton area SOM. (Richard WELCH was born about 1812 in Evercreech SOM and died on 5 Mar 1881 in Alhampton SOM.)
