Morgan REES
- Christened: 1 Oct 1757, Cadoxton Gla
- Marriage: Mary
- Died: 13 Sep 1823, Neath aged 65
- Buried: 15 Sep 1823, Neath
Noted events in his life were:
• Occupation: posthumous son baptised after father's death; carpenter Neath 1806, patternmaker Neath Abbey 1823, tombstone still standing 2000, named in sister Pengilly's will as having recently died 1823- notably none of his offspring was able to collect the legacy on his behalf indicating they were perhaps out of favour with the Methodist Pengillys.
Morgan married Mary JONES. (Mary was born about 1757, died on 26 Mar 1838 and was buried on 8 Jan 1838 in Neath.) John Jones tailor died abt 1767, Winifred Jones (daughter) died age 26 shortly after- both buried with Morgan and Mary - presumably her father and sister. Morgan and Mary (Jones) had daughter Mary who married Jenkin Price and died in childbirth of Morgan Rees Price; Jenkin remarried in Bristol 1809 to 'Jane' Rees i.e. Mary's younger daughter Jennet Rees and had a large family at Cadoxton Vale of Neath (at Lamb and Flag, later Green Dragon and also of Rutland Arms, Swansea). Several Price children married seafarers, see the Cambrian Times for details. Jennet's marriage in 1809 may have been facilitated by uncle Rees whose barque sometimes called in at that city.
